CP Owohunwa Decentralisation Of Police Has Yielded Fantastic Result In Lagos–Lagos PPRO. Paraded 32 suspects,name listed.

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State,CP Idowu Owohunwa has decentralised Police in Lagos,which has yielded a fantastic result in the State.The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO SP Benjamin Hundeyin said this during the parade of some suspected cultists and armed robbers at the Lagos State Command,Ikeja, Lagos.

According to him,the Command has arrested about 32 persons who were all paraded,involved in one crime or the other perpetrated in different areas of the State.

Eleven(11) traffic robbers were arrested at Ijora-badia area of Lagos state,Two(2) persons were arrested for impersonating a police officer,and one of them 36 years old Oluwaniyi Ijanusi was a police officer who has been declared a deserter because he was transferred from lagos state to Osun state police Command for over a year and as not reported but conived with other people to accost innocent people and estord them.

The PPRO said, the deserter was exposed by a lawyer who made a video that went viral recently about some people who claim to be officers driving around town collecting money from people.

Lagos State Police went into investigation and were able to arrest one of them who happened to be a deserting police officer while the remaining two are on the run.Police commend the Lawyer and promise to closely monitor the other suspects and get them arrested,he encourage other citizens to speak out when they see anything that is wrong going on in the Society.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin further said two robbers were also arrested who invaded a car stand in Illupeju area in lagos state and stole away a Toyota hillux from a car stand,one of the papetrators is actually a security guard who works with some others to steal the vehicle,according to him,”we investigated and eventually recovered the vehicle in Kaduna State, the receiver of the vehicle 39 years old Jamiku Adamu and 36 years old Aliu Hamza in whose custody the vehicle was found has been arrested.”

The suspect were all in command among the 32 people paraded and according to the PPRO,immediately after the parade, they are all going to be arraign.

In Ikorodu,8 notorious suspects terrorizing Ipakodo area of Ikorodu were arrested.

Also in Isolo,a dare devil cult leader,a 31 years old Oluwatosin Adebimpe popularly call 70 was arrested alongside 39 years old,Razaq Agbabiaka and 22 years old Saheed Oladokun.

One 27 years old Ademef Jamiu,a cultist from Abattoir was arrested.

A 42 years old Maxwell Agrola a tricycle driver was also arrested with gun.

Another 5 cultist from Badagry were all arrested and paraded at the Lagos State Police Command.

Rating the causes and determination to put a stop to all form of criminality in the state, SP Benjamin said, “the command has identify causes as the biggest problem the Police have in Lagos state in terms of crime and criminality and it is not being helped by the fact that there is rampact drug abuse which help the crime go hand in hand.

 

Most of the cult groups are heavily depended on drug abuse and there’s also the problem of infiltration of strong arms and light weapons which is beyond Nigeria.

 

According to him,”this is beyond Nigeria, it is a regional problem in West Africa sub region”.

 

We have identify this and it has made the Lagos State Commissioner of Police,CP Idowu Owohunwa decentralise our Tactical unit,he made sure,the Tactical unit are taken away from the command headquarters and taken to the door step.

 

“The battle is taken to the door step of these cultist, that is why we have identify the doorstep of these cultists in the state.

 

He stated that the Command has set the Tactical stations in different locations in the state.These stations are in Ajar,Surulere,Badagry,Ikorodu,one also stationed in the headquarters in the Command”.

 

This decentralisation has been yielding fantastic results. As I speak to you,we have over a hundred cultists who are been prosecuted and today,we have more that will be prosecuted,we also have some cultist we did not bring out because we are still investigating and we are not taking them to court yet. It is yielding fantastic result and we are encouraged by the result we have gotten so far.

 

Speaking further, he said,”I can assure you that the Commissioner of Police is in double action to ensure he continue to mob up these cultists and bring its activities to it bearest minimum in the coming week. We are expanding the capacity of the Tactical unit,in the coming week and we are also mobilising more Police officers into this unit,he said.

 

SP Benjamin also used the opportunity to appreciate the Chairman of Isolo LCDA for supporting the police by donating a utility vehicle to the Police.

 

He assured that cultism, crime and criminality will all be brought to the bearest minimum with all the support the police are getting and also with their renew vigour to fight it.

 

The PPRO also said to get to the root of the problem which is drugs,the Command has established a robust relationship with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Some of the exhibits recovered from the suspects are :1 hammer,5 axes, 2 knives, 5 locally made pistol, 2 cartridges, 2 (9mm) live ammunition and 1 Hillux.
