OGPWA COMMENCES MAINTENANCE WORKS, REASSURES COMMITMENT TO ADDRESS ROAD DEFECTS.

The Ogun State government under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun through the State Public Works Agency (OGPWA), has reassure all Ogun citizens to remain steadfast in its commitment to addressing a broader range of road defects across the State.
According to the release by the Press Officer, OGPWA Sesan Sodunke, the Bad portions of roads within the Abeokuta metropolis in Ogun State are undergoing maintenance works, to make them passable for commuters and other road users, just as the State government has promised to remains steadfast in its commitment to addressing a broader range of road defects across the State once the rainy season subsides.
It stated that the rehabilitation works according to a statement from the Ogun State Public Works Agency (OGPWA), involve clearing drains and carting away debris, covered areas like Sapon, Abiola way, the subsection of Itoku, lwe-Iroyin road and the frontage of Police Motor Traffic Division of (MTD) Office, Ibara, along Presidential Boulevard all in Abeokuta.The Agency, established to ensure the rehabilitation, maintenance and repair of State roads, has been making concerted efforts to put major roads in the three Senatorial Districts of the State in good condition.
Another statement by the Agency stated that,having noticed the damage done to roads as a result of flooding and other unwholesome activities of some people, it urged members of the public on their part to complement the present administration’s huge investment in road infrastructure, by refraining from unauthorised constructions or digging near roads, as it weakens the roadbed and leads to sinkholes or structural damage.
Residents were also advised to refrain from improper waste disposal, including plastics and debris, which could cause more damage to road infrastructure.
