AMJON 2023: FG Urged To Look Inward And Pay More Attention To Non Oil Export-Paul Ogbuokiri.

The Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to look inward and pay more attention to non-oil export which will serve as a panacea to Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Crisis.

President of AMJON,Paul Ogbuokiri said this at the 5th AMJON Conference and Awards which held in Lagos on Thursday.

Speaking about the theme of this year event,”Rebuilding Nigeria’s Economy Towards a Viable Trans-bother Trade”

He said it was deliberately chosen because of the poor state of our mono-cultural economy which needs urgent solution to draw the Country away from its present economic crisis situation.

Paul Ogbuokiri in his paper presentation said, AMJON is of the opinion that this is an auspicious time for us as a nation to sincerely look inward and commence full domestic production for the country’s consuption as it was in the 70s and 80s. The excess,we should sell to other countries for our forex needs.

He further said,Trade in Non Oil exports holds the key to Nigeria’s economic survival,particularly with regard to intra-African Trade.

Indicating platforms like ECOWAS Trade Liberation Scheme(ETLS),African Continental Free Trade Area(AFCFTA)and the recent deal between the Custom Administration of Nigeria and Benin Republic.
