OGUN POLICE ROLL OUT ENHANCED SECURITY PLAN FOR 2025 FESTIVE SEASON

The Ogun State Police Command has announced a comprehensive security operation to protect lives and property before, during and after the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations.
According to the statement released by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer,DSP Oluseyi B Babaseyi,”The command said Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical units have been ordered to step up patrols and boost police visibility across residential areas, markets, motor parks, places of worship, hospitals and on major highways. The measures are aimed at preventing disorder and ensuring a peaceful festive period for residents.
Officers reiterated that the ban on the sale and use of fireworks, knockouts and bangers remains in effect.
The command warned that the loud noises these items produce can be mistaken for gunshots or explosions, triggering fear, panic and unnecessary disruption.
Parents and guardians were specifically urged to caution children against using such items. Those found causing public disturbance, injury or property damage will be arrested and prosecuted.
The Commissioner of Police appealed to residents to celebrate responsibly, obey the law and cooperate with police and other security agencies, assuring the public of sustained security coverage throughout the season and beyond.
