Cultist Arrested In Possession Of Firearm,

The Ogun State Police Command through credible intelligence received the information about unlawful gathering of members of the Eiye Confraternity with suspected criminal intent at about 17:30 hours on Friday 27th of June,2025 at the Saje Area of Car Wash, Abeokuta.

After receiving the information, the Operatives from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit swiftly mobilized to the scene. On getting there,one suspect, Ismail Afolabi, was found in possession of a cross-body bag containing a cut-to-size double-barrel shotgun loaded with live ammunition He was apprehended while attempting to flee.

Preliminary investigations have commenced, while efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices.

The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to eradicating cult related violence.

In another related incident,a suspected cultist who was threatening his victim with firearms was clamp down by the Operatives of the command, who moved in and arrested the suspect with locally made pistol

The incident happened on Saturday, the 28th of June 2025.
The Ogun State Police Command received a distress call from a male resident of Agbena Area via Ojere, Abeokuta.

The complainant reported that on 27th June, 2025, at about 1800hrs, while returning from a football field, he was accosted by one Oluwatobiloba Kehinde who threatened to deal with him if he refused to give him money.

Shortly after the confrontation, other gang members arrived on a motorcycle and joined in assaulting the complainant. He, however, managed to escape the scene and fled to his residence. Shockingly, the same suspect, Oluwatobiloba Kehinde, traced the complainant to his family house, armed with a locally made pistol, and continued issuing threats to shoot him.

Acting swiftly on the report, operatives of the Command moved in, arrested the suspect, and recovered the locally made firearm used in the threat.

The case has been formally recorded,preliminary investigation has commenced. Members of the public will be intimated of the outcome
