The Ogun State Police Command has moved to reassure the public following the circulation of video clips on social media, in which an unidentified individual threatens several communities and tertiary institutions across the state.
According to the statement released today, Wednesday 26th of November 2025, by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Omolola Odutola anipr.
The police clarified that the videos were fabricated using artificial intelligence (AI) by unknown individuals and are not linked to any recognized terrorist organization or operational cells.
The footage, which had caused widespread concern, was traced to a foreign online source from approximately three months ago before resurfacing in different forms on various platforms.
The police further emphasized that there is no credible intelligence suggesting any imminent threat to Ogun State, its communities, or public institutions.
The Command also stated that its cybercrime and intelligence units are actively working to track down those responsible for creating and spreading the misleading content.
“While we understand the concerns raised by these video clips, we urge the public to remain calm and not to give in to panic,” the statement read. “We also advise people to refrain from spreading unverified information, which can only fuel unnecessary fear and confusion.”
The Ogun State Police Command encouraged residents to continue their normal activities and to report any suspicious persons or activities to local police stations. Authorities assured the public that they are handling the situation with “determination and precision” to ensure safety and maintain peace in the state.
Ogun State remains safe, stable, and fully secure. The command, in conjunction with other agencies and stakeholders, remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting lives and property.
