The Dangote Group reaffirmed its commitment to expanding Nigeria’s maritime and export capacity, saying it will continue to invest heavily in projects that support the country’s economic growth.
Speaking at the MARCON Retreat held at Maril Hotel, Lekki Free Trade Zone,Lagos on Thursday 4th of December, 2025,the company’s communication specialist, Abiodun Alade, represented the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
The event had the theme, “Maximising Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Import and Export Trade.”
Alade expressed gratitude to the Maritime Correspondents Organisation of Nigeria for honouring Aliko Dangote, describing the award as a push for the Group to do more.
“Our President is passionate about Nigeria’s growth. He has done a lot for this sector, and this award tells us to keep pushing,” Alade said.
Olokola Deep Seaport Will Be Nigeria’s Biggest Dangote Group
He revealed that the Group is pressing ahead with the Olokola Deep Sea Port, which he described as the largest and deepest port project in the country.
According to him, the project reflects Dangote’s belief that Nigeria must boost the export of finished goods and raw materials to strengthen the economy.
“You can see this already in the volume of fertiliser we export daily,” he added.
Alade noted that Nigeria, once known only for exporting crude oil, is now exporting refined petroleum products including diesel, PMS and aviation fuel.
“These products are now going to Europe, Asia, America and many other parts of the world,” he said.
He stressed that all ongoing investments by the Group align with President Bola Tinubu’s $1 trillion economy target.
“For us at Dangote Group, the goal is to support all stakeholders to keep the maritime sector growing,” he stated.
Speaking on corporate social responsibility, Alade said the company has continued to give back to its host communities.
He said the access road leading to the Lekki Deep Seaport was constructed by the Group and that the company has supported several schools within the corridor. He also disclosed ongoing electrification projects in the communities.
“We will keep doing our best to support the communities around us,” he assured.
