Customs, NDLEA seize 1,187kg of “Canadian Loud” cannabis at Apapa Port.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 1,187 kilograms of a high-value cannabis strain known as “Canadian Loud” at Apapa Port, the agencies said on Tuesday 9th of December, 2025.
According to Customs Public Relations Officer Apapa Port Command,CSC Isah Suleiman,”The seizure followed intelligence from the NDLEA that led joint teams to a 1×20 container (No. FCIU 6369526) carrying two imported vehicles. Officers found 2,374 packages of cannabis packed in 55 bags inside the container; each sachet weighed 500 grams, bringing the total to 1,187kg. The drugs have been placed in NDLEA custody and an investigation is underway.”
The latest interception comes barely five days after the NCS and NDLEA uncovered 25.5kg of cocaine aboard a Brazilian‑flagged vessel, highlighting intensified enforcement at the port.
Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, Customs Area Controller of Apapa Port Command, praised the cooperation between the agencies and reiterated the service’s zero tolerance for smuggling. “Few days ago, I stated that no consignment will exit our control from this port without due check. Our synergy as agencies of government will always put us ahead of criminal elements,” he said.
Oshoba warned traders, importers, exporters, freight forwarders and licensed customs agents against attempting to smuggle contraband, saying: “No matter the volume of trade we are processing, we will never sacrifice national security and economy for any form of trade. While we are focused on collecting maximum revenue for government, our eagle‑eyed officers are activated to be alert at all times. Let me warn, once again for the umpteenth time, any trader… that dares our resolve this Yuletide season and beyond will face the full wrath of the law. Inveqstigations are ongoing on this seizure and we shall bring the perpetrators to book.”
