FG Rolls Out Education Policy To Cut Costs, Says Graduation Ceremony For Primary 6, JSS 3, SSS 3 Students.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched a new policy framework aimed at slashing education costs for parents of graduating Primary 6, JSS3, and SSS3 students, while boosting learning outcomes through reusable, high-quality textbooks and a uniform academic calendar.
Jointly announced by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id, the reforms detailed in a statement on Friday, January 9, 2026, by ministry spokesperson Boriowo Folasade, prioritize durable, standardized textbooks lasting four to six years.
These reusable materials eliminate the need for annual purchases, ban bundled disposable workbooks, and allow siblings to share resources, directly easing the financial burden on families during key graduation years.
