A late-night truck fire along the Secretariat inward Otedola Bridge axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was quickly brought under control over the weekend after a rapid joint response by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
According to the report released by Adebayo Taofiq,Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA stated,”the incident, which occurred late Saturday, involved a Mack truck carrying an empty 20-foot container. Preliminary reports indicate the vehicle caught fire while in motion, posing an immediate risk to other road users and nearby infrastructure.

LASTMA officers who arrived at the scene prioritized rescue and removed the truck driver, who escaped without injury. Fire service teams then extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading and averting what officials described as a potentially large-scale incident.

He urged motorists to perform regular mechanical and electrical checks and to exercise caution while driving.
