In a heartfelt display of solidarity, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, hosted a special Easter luncheon for troops at the Forward Operation Base (FOB) Udomi in Edo State on April 4, 2026. This gathering, part of the celebrations marking both Easter and Eid-el-Fitr, was held to acknowledge the unwavering dedication of the military personnel serving in the 4 Brigade under the 2 Division Nigerian Army.

During the event, the COAS emphasized the significance of the holiday as a reminder of the nation’s collective strength, transcending religious differences.

He commended soldiers for their commitment and professionalism while carrying out their constitutional duties, particularly those stationed in various operational theatres working to secure the nation.

Represented by Major General Adebayo Adegbite, Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, General Shaibu articulated the sacrifices made by many personnel who must celebrate the season away from their families. He highlighted the vital role of their vigilance and selfless efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the citizenry.

The COAS reiterated his dedication to improving living conditions for troops, enhancing professional development, and providing robust support systems for their families.

Major General Chinedu Nnebeife, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army, praised the COAS for his commitment to troop welfare and for organizing the Easter luncheon. He described the event as an embodiment of the COAS Command Philosophy, aimed at transforming the Nigerian Army into a professional and resilient force capable of effectively fulfilling its responsibilities.

The GOC lauded the exceptional courage and resilience of the troops within the 4 Brigade and 2 Division, highlighting their significant achievements in combating crime and maintaining security. Their efforts have bolstered public confidence and strengthened the relationship between the Nigerian Army and civilians.

In a vote of thanks, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, Commander of 4 Brigade, expressed gratitude to the COAS for celebrating Easter alongside the troops at FOB Udomi. He stressed that such recognition of their sacrifices boosts morale and fortifies the connection between the military and its leaders. Balogun also acknowledged dignitaries present at the event, including HRH Christopher Ike Kebordih of Illushi Kingdom and local government officials.

The upbeat event featured a festive luncheon, cultural dance performances, comedy acts, and uplifting songs performed by the troops, fostering camaraderie and spirit within the ranks.
