Ogun Police Arrest Suspect in Gruesome Murder of Motorcyclist.

In a shocking incident that unfolded in Igbesa, Ogun State, detectives from the Igbesa Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 27year old man, Chidi Ebere, for the alleged murder of a local commercial motorcyclist. The tragic event occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, around 7 a.m.

According to reports, Ebere hailed a motorcycle operated by the victim, 36 years old Sunday Ogbu,with the intent to steal it. During the attempt, a violent struggle ensued between the suspect and Ogbu.

A bystander at the scene raised the alarm, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Despite being rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment, Ogbu was tragically pronounced dead by medical staff shortly after arrival. Authorities swiftly apprehended Ebere at the scene and recovered the motorcycle along with a knife believed to be used in the attack.

The case has since been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a detailed investigation and prosecution.

Condemning the violent act, the Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, reassured the community that justice would be served. He also called on the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
