The Managing Director of JEMEB Inspection Services and Executive Director of Business Development at Shibait Nigeria Limited, Dr. Festus Nwiue, has been honoured with the Excellence Award for Port Infrastructural Consultancy and Public Services in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
The award was presented by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) during its 2026 Annual Conference held in Lagos on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Presenting the award on behalf of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Maritime Command, DCP U.M. Ugochi described Dr. Nwiue as a committed advocate for Nigeria’s economic growth and a strong contributor to the development of the maritime industry through his public service efforts.
According to Ugochi, Dr. Nwiue has consistently distinguished himself as a leading figure in the sector, earning recognition for his dedication and impact on port infrastructure consultancy.

“AMJON did not just wake up one day and decide that Dr. Nwiue deserved an award,” Osokpo said. “His nomination and eventual emergence as recipient of the Excellence Award were the outcomes of rigorous research, industry assessment, and public sampling.”
She added that the association was committed to ensuring credibility and transparency in its award selection process.
Responding on behalf of Dr. Nwiue, Chief Nkpemenyie McDominic expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing the honour as deeply touching to the award recipient.
“I am humbled and honoured that my contributions to the maritime industry are being recognised,” he quoted Dr. Nwiue as saying. “I place high value on maritime journalism because factual and adequate publicity of events and developments helps in growing the industry.”
Dr. Nwiue also apologised for his absence at the conference, citing circumstances beyond his control, while expressing his intention to personally attend future editions of the event.
“If God keeps us alive, I intend to reciprocate this gesture by personally attending your next conference as a participant,” the statement added.
