In a major crackdown on cross-border crime, the Ogun State Police Command has united with sister security agencies and top government officials for a high-level operational assessment and massive “show of force” along the Ogun–Ondo border corridor.
The joint operation traversed critical communities from Itele-Ijebu to the Ondo State boundary, specifically targeting the Ogun Waterside axis, which includes Iwopin, Abigi, and Ibiade. The strategic move aims to consolidate the gains of the existing “Operation Kosaye” and ensure continuous security dominance over the region.
A United Front Against Crime
The high-powered delegation was led by the Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, CP Edward Ajogun (Rtd.), alongside a formidable lineup of the state’s top security brass, including:
CP Bode Ojajuni, Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command
Brigadier General J.O. Onu, Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade
Director R.A. Adelakun, Director, Department of State Services (DSS)
Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (Rtd.), Commander of the Amotekun Corps
Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, State Commander of the So-Safe Corps
The security chiefs were accompanied by the Executive Chairmen of Ijebu East, Ijebu North East, and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas, signaling a unified approach between state law enforcement and local government administration.
Securing Vulnerable Transit Points
The tactical convoy covered the extensive stretches of the Ijebu Ode-Ore Expressway. Starting from Ijebu Ode, the team evaluated security architectures through J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin, and Abigi, before concluding the assessment at Ajebandele—the vital boundary community separating Ogun and Ondo States.
During the sweep, officials conducted a comprehensive analysis of the terrain, reviewed operational requirements, and identified vulnerable spots used by criminal elements. The exercise was also used to boost inter-agency communication and engage local stakeholders to improve grassroots intelligence gathering.
”This exercise sends a clear and unmistakable message: the Ogun–Ondo border corridor remains under continuous dominance and tightly coordinated inter-agency monitoring.”
Police Chief Reassures Public, Calls for Vigilance
The visible presence of the heavily armed joint forces served as a reassurance to residents, traders, and commuters frequenting the busy highway.
Speaking at the conclusion of the tour, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the seamless synergy between the military, paramilitary, and local security outfits. He reiterated the command’s commitment to leveraging modern policing technology and intelligence sharing to keep criminals at bay.
CP Ojajuni urged members of the public to remain highly vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement. He reminded citizens that effective policing relies heavily on timely, credible, and actionable information from the communities they protect.
