The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed a viral online security alert circulating alongside the photograph of the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, describing it as false, misleading, and unauthorized.

According to the statement released by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola anipr, “the Command noted a recent rise in unsolicited and alarmist “security tips” shared across social media platforms.”

According to the police, some of these posts falsely suggest that the state is facing a security emergency, while others recycle old videos or use inflammatory language aimed at causing public panic.

The Command warned individuals and groups behind such disinformation to desist from spreading frightening videos, voice notes, and unverified claims, stressing that many of these reports are baseless and capable of inciting unnecessary fear among residents.

Authorities assured the public that there is no cause for alarm. Areas flagged by concerned communities are currently under close watch, with additional deployments of personnel and resources to reinforce safety.

The Police urged residents and stakeholders to remain calm, verify information before sharing, and rely on official communication channels for accurate security updates.
