Ogun Police Arrest Five Suspects, Recover Four Firearms and Stolen Phone in Coordinated Operations.

The Ogun State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in a series of intelligence led operations across the state, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including a father and son, and the recovery of four firearms, a live cartridge, and a stolen Tecno Android phone.

According to the information released by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer,DSP Oluseyi B Babaseyi, the operations were carried out by officers attached to Afon, Ilisan Remo, and Ode Remo Divisions as part of the ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety across Ogun State.

The first crime is the arrest of father and son over a stolen Phone, Firearms Recovered

Operatives of the Afon Division arrested a father and his son, identified as Fatai Adegbola and 23-year-old Waliu Adegbola, following a theft report received on May 22, 2026.

Police investigations revealed that Waliu allegedly stole a Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000 from a residential apartment on May 8, 2026. Acting on credible intelligence, officers successfully tracked and recovered the stolen device.

A subsequent search of the suspects’ residence, conducted with a valid warrant, led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and a dane gun allegedly hidden within the premises. Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to determine the extent of their involvement and identify possible accomplices.

Another crime is the  abandoned pistol and live cartridge recovered in Ilisan Remo

In a separate operation, officers attached to the Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol and one live cartridge during a routine patrol at Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27, 2026.

The firearm was discovered abandoned and was immediately secured by the patrol team. Police said the recovered items have been deposited in the division’s armoury while efforts are underway to trace their source and ownership.

Suspect Arrested for Theft of Dane Gun

Meanwhile, operatives of the Ode Remo Division arrested 25 year old Inioluwa Adesanya in connection with the theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident of Ode Remo.

Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly gained access to the victim’s residence while working as a carpenter’s assistant during renovation work and subsequently stole the firearm.

Police said the suspect confessed to the offence during interrogation and admitted being a member of the Aye confraternity. He also disclosed that the stolen weapon had been modified to make it easier to conceal.

The recovered dane gun has been secured as evidence, while the suspect remains in custody pending further investigation and persecution.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that all the cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and persecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni commended the officers involved .He praised their professionalism, swift response, and effective use of intelligence in tackling crime.

The Ogun Command Boss reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained operations against violent crime, cultism, armed robbery, and the illegal possession of firearms across the state.
