In a vibrant display of commitment to community engagement, the Lagos State Police Command held a walkathon today, Tuesday, 31 March 2026, as part of the ongoing celebrations for the 2026 National Police Day. Titled “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” the event aimed to promote peace, enhance police visibility, and strengthen public safety throughout Lagos State.
The Commissioner of Police,CP Tijani Fatai led the walkathon which began at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja GRA and continued along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, culminating in a journey of approximately 4 kilometers.
According to the release by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officers,PPROThe exercise witnessed participation from senior officers, Area Commanders, and personnel from the Lagos State Police Command, all united in the mission to solidify the bond between the police and the community.
This initiative underscores the importance of maintaining a visible police presence within local neighborhoods and assures residents of the police’s commitment to accessibility and responsiveness in safeguarding public safety. Additionally, it highlighted the fitness and operational readiness of the Command’s personnel.
During the event, Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai emphasized the accessibility of law enforcement, urging the public to collaborate with the Command in maintaining peace and security. He encouraged residents to voice their concerns and complaints, assuring them of the police’s professionalism and dedication to addressing issues promptly and effectively. “Policing with humility and integrity remains our watchword,” he affirmed, reinforcing the police’s pledge to serve the community faithfully.
