The newly appointed Controller of Customs, Tincan Island Port Area Command, Comptroller JA. Anani, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja, at the Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos.
According to the report released by the Ports Authority Police (WESTERN)Command Apapa, ASP Isaac Hundeyin,anipr,the visit was aimed at strengthening inter agency collaboration and reinforcing the existing partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force in securing the nation’s maritime domain while facilitating legitimate trade activities at the ports.
During the meeting, Comptroller Anani commended the Ports Authority Police Command for its sustained efforts in maintaining security and public order within the port environment.He stressed the need for continued cooperation among security and regulatory agencies to effectively address emerging challenges and ensure seamless port operations.
The Customs Controller noted that stronger collaboration among stakeholders remains essential to promoting efficiency, safeguarding critical infrastructure, and enhancing the overall competitiveness of Nigeria’s maritime sector.
In her remarks, CP Agbaminoja welcomed the new Customs Controller and congratulated him on his appointment. She reaffirmed the commitment of the Ports Authority Police Command to working closely with the Nigeria Customs Service and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen security across the nation’s seaports.
The Commissioner emphasized that intelligence sharing, joint operations, and sustained cooperation are crucial in combating criminal activities within the maritime sector and protecting critical national assets.
Both officials expressed their resolve to deepen the existing partnership between their agencies, underscoring their shared commitment to building a secure, efficient, and globally competitive maritime ecosystem.
