The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has launched a new toll-free short code hotline, 3367, in a major step aimed at improving emergency traffic response, enhancing public participation and strengthening accountability across the state’s road transportation network.

The initiative is designed to provide road users with a simple, cost free platform to report traffic-related emergencies, including road crashes, broken-down vehicles, stranded tankers, obstructive articulated trucks and other incidents capable of causing severe traffic congestion.

Available on MTN, Glo and 9mobile (formerly Etisalat) networks, the 3367 hotline removes financial barriers that may discourage residents from promptly reporting emergencies requiring immediate intervention.
Beyond incident reporting, the platform also enables members of the public to submit feedback on the conduct, professionalism and operational activities of LASTMA personnel, a feature expected to promote transparency, improve service delivery and reinforce public confidence in the agency.

To ensure accessibility across Lagos’ diverse population, the hotline supports communication in English, Yoruba and Nigerian Pidgin, allowing callers to relay emergency information quickly and effectively regardless of language preference.

Transportation experts have described the initiative as a significant technological advancement in urban traffic management, aligning LASTMA with global best practices that emphasize real-time information gathering, rapid incident response and greater citizen engagement in public service delivery.
By introducing the dedicated short-code, the agency aims to strengthen collaboration between residents and traffic managers, enabling faster transmission of information from incident locations to emergency response teams and reducing the likelihood of prolonged traffic disruptions.

Speaking on the initiative, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare Oki, described the launch of the 3367 hotline as a landmark achievement in the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring seamless vehicular movement across Lagos State.
According to him, timely access to accurate information remains critical to effective traffic management in a rapidly growing megacity like Lagos, where delays in emergency response can quickly escalate into widespread gridlock affecting thousands of commuters.
The introduction of the hotline also reflects a broader shift toward technology-driven governance, recognising that efficient transportation management depends not only on enforcement but also on active collaboration between government agencies and the public.
As Lagos continues to expand as one of Africa’s leading economic and urban centres, intelligent communication infrastructure such as the 3367 hotline is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting safer roads, faster emergency response and improved traffic administration.
With its focus on accessibility, accountability and rapid response, the new platform positions LASTMA to deepen public engagement while enhancing the efficiency of traffic management across the state.
