CP Bode Ojajuni Visits Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command,Idiroko….. Engages Joint Border Security Committee and Reinforces Inter -Agency Collaboration.

In a strategic move to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, reinforce border security, and consolidate existing security frameworks, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, alongside members of his management team, including the Commanding Officer, 16 Police Mobile Force Squadron, the Area Commander, Idiroko, and Commanders of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit and Border Patrol Unit, paid a high-level familiarisation visit to the Acting Customs Area Controller, Ogun I Area Command, Deputy Controller Oladapo Olukayode Afeni, at the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun I Area Command, Idiroko.

Following the release by the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi B Babaseyi anipr,The Commissioner of Police and his management team were formally received by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Ogun I Area Command, and Chairman of the Joint Border Security Committee, Deputy Controller Oladapo Olukayode Afeni, alongside his management team.

Thereafter, the Commissioner proceeded to an interactive session with members of the Joint Border Security Committee, comprising the Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Forest Guards, Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, So-Safe Corps, Port Health Services, and the Permanent Secretary, Inter-Border Security Formation.

The visit underscores the Command’s commitment to deepening operational cooperation, enhancing intelligence sharing, and building a more coordinated security architecture across Ogun State’s international border corridors.

Addressing the gathering, CP Ojajuni expressed satisfaction with the prevailing security situation within the border corridor and commended the leadership of the Ogun I Area Command for its professionalism, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to protecting the nation’s territorial integrity. He noted that the strategic activities of the Nigeria Customs Service along the border contribute significantly to national security, economic growth, and the nation’s Gross Domestic Product.

The CP further applauded the exceptional level of cooperation among security agencies operating within the corridor, describing the existing synergy as a model worthy of emulation. He emphasized that sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint operations remain indispensable in addressing emerging security threats. While acknowledging the remarkable successes recorded under Operation Kosaye, he called for greater operational coordination and reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Ogun State Police Command to all sister security agencies.

In his response, the Acting Customs Area Controller and Chairman of the Joint Border Security Committee, Deputy Controller Oladapo Olukayode Afeni, appreciated the Commissioner of Police for what he described as an “August visit in July,” noting that the visit further strengthens the longstanding relationship among security agencies operating within the border corridor. He also acknowledged the institutional support previously extended by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of ICT, and Supervising DIG for the South-West Geopolitical Zone, DIG Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade, psc, mnim, mni, during his tenure as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2.

Deputy Controller Afeni commended CP Ojajuni for the remarkable achievements recorded since assuming duty as Commissioner of Police, Ogun State. He reiterated that the statutory mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service include border security and enforcement and trade facilitation while attributing the successes recorded within the border corridor to the unity, cooperation, professionalism, and mutual trust existing among all security agencies operating under the Joint Border Security Committee.

The engagement concluded with goodwill messages from the Controller of Immigration and other members of the Joint Border Security Committee, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to sustained intelligence sharing, joint operations, and enhanced collaboration towards maintaining a secure, peaceful, and crime-free border environment.
