Comptroller Adenuga Takes Command at Seme Customs, Pledges to Strengthen Trade Facilitation.

The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially welcomed a new leadership as Comptroller Wale Adenuga assumed duty as the Customs Area Controller (CAC), following a formal handover ceremony held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the ECOWAS Joint Border Post, Seme-Krake.
The event drew attendance from senior officials of sister security agencies, representatives of trade and transport stakeholders, traditional and community leaders, and members of the media.
In his inaugural address, Comptroller Adenuga commended his predecessor, ACG Oramalugo, for his accomplishments and pledged to build on the foundation already laid. He outlined his strategic vision, with a strong emphasis on trade facilitation as a central priority.
“Trade facilitation is my keyword,” Adenuga stated. “When stakeholders make accurate declarations, their consignments will exit Customs control in record time. The more efficiently we facilitate trade, the more revenue we generate and the less incentive there is for smuggling.”
He affirmed his commitment to fostering close collaboration with sister agencies, including the DSS, Nigeria Police, Immigration Service, NDLEA, NAFDAC, the Armed Forces, and others to reduce crime and enhance the business environment.
Comptroller Adenuga also stressed the importance of engaging with local communities, particularly traditional rulers, youth groups in Badagry, and the media. “My doors will remain open,” he assured.
Promising to lead by example, he emphasized discipline, professionalism, and integrity within the service, urging officers to remain steadfast in their duties and resist any form of compromise.
He also acknowledged the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), who currently serves as the President of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council,the first Nigerian to hold the prestigious role,pledging to uphold the standards and expectations of the CGC through outstanding performance.
In his farewell speech, ACG Oramalugo reflected on his tenure with mixed emotions and gratitude for God’s faithfulness and his recent promotion, coupled with nostalgia for the strong bonds built at the Seme Command.
He highlighted major achievements under his leadership, including effective anti-smuggling operations with notable seizures, improved revenue generation, enhanced trade facilitation, strengthened inter-agency collaboration, and increased community engagement.
Expressing appreciation to the CGC and NCS management for their support, he lauded his officers for their loyalty and discipline and called on all stakeholders to give Comptroller Adenuga even greater support.
The ceremony concluded with goodwill messages from heads of various sister agencies and stakeholders, including representatives from the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Shippers’ Council, NDLEA, FRSC
