DIG Fayoade Strengthens Security Collaboration During Strategic Working Visit to Ogun State.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) supervising the South-West Geopolitical Zone and in charge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), DIG Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade, has concluded a strategic working visit to Ogun State aimed at strengthening community policing, enhancing inter-agency collaboration, and advancing technology-driven law enforcement.
The visit, undertaken on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, featured engagements with the Ogun State Government, traditional institutions, security stakeholders, police personnel, and the Police College of Information and Technology.
DIG Fayoade was accompanied by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Jimoh Moshood, and was received at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, alongside members of the Command Management Team.
A major highlight of the visit was an interactive stakeholders’ meeting held at the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) Hall, bringing together representatives of the Ogun State Government,
traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, labour and transport unions, youth organisations, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC),
the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and sister security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Amotekun Corps, So-Safe Corps, and TRACE.
Addressing participants, DIG Fayoade described security as a shared responsibility, stressing the importance of stronger collaboration among government, traditional institutions, security agencies, and members of the public. He urged residents to support the police with timely and credible information while directing Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to sustain regular community engagements to strengthen grassroots policing.
The DIG also held an interactive session with officers and personnel of the Ogun State Police Command, where he commended their professionalism and operational achievements. He charged them to uphold discipline, accountability, integrity, respect for human rights, and quality service delivery, while maintaining zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct.
As part of the visit, DIG Fayoade paid a courtesy call on the Ogun State Government, where he was received by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, representing Governor Dapo Abiodun.
He conveyed the goodwill of the Inspector-General of Police and expressed appreciation for the state’s continued support for the Nigeria Police Force. The state government reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining its partnership with the police in promoting peace and public safety.
The Deputy Inspector-General also visited the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, where he acknowledged the vital role of traditional institutions in intelligence gathering, conflict resolution, and community policing.
In his capacity as the DIG in charge of ICT, Fayoade concluded the visit with an engagement at the Police College of Information and Technology, Kobape, Abeokuta. He commended the institution’s management, instructors, and course participants for their contributions to developing the technological capacity of police personnel and encouraged continued innovation in support of the Nigeria Police Force’s digital transformation agenda.
Speaking after the visit, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, expressed appreciation to DIG Fayoade and AIG Moshood for what he described as an impactful visit that provided strategic direction for policing in the state. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, integrity, accountability, respect for human rights, and sustained collaboration with government, traditional institutions, security agencies, and community stakeholders.
The Ogun State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property through intelligence-led, technology-driven policing and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and actionable information, emphasising that security remains a collective responsibility.
